Considerando che Amazon ha sviluppato la propria assistente digitale chiamata Alexa ed ha anche rilasciato sul mercato lo speaker stand alone Amazon Echo e Google ha fatto la medesima cosa con Google Assistant e Google Home, a che punto si trova Microsoft con Cortana?
Attraverso la conferenza WinHEC Conference in Cina abbiamo scoperto che con il rilascio di Windows 10 Creative Update, non solo Cortana sarà ancora di più integrata all’interno del sistema operativo ma potrà essere installata su tutti i dispositivi appartenenti al settore IoT aventi un display.
Si tratta di un annuncio molto importante che pone Microsoft decisamente in una delle prime posizioni per la conquista del mercato IoT. Per chi non lo sapesse, il settore IoT (Internet of Things – Internet delle cose) si riferisce a tutti quegli oggetto di uso comune che nel prossimo futuro potranno connettersi ad internet. Ad esempio, il frigorifero potrebbe sfruttare Cortana per acquisti online, oppure il termostato potrebbe sfruttarla per farci regolare la temperatura interna di casa anche da remoto.
Insomma, le possibilità con l’IoT sono infinite. Basti pensare che nel 2020 si prevede che ad internet saranno connessi oltre 10 miliardi di dispositivi (per la maggior parte appartenenti al settore IoT). Al momento Microsoft sembra essere l’unico “big player” che si appresta ad entrare con i propri servizi.
